Hi!
On this page, I want to share with you the story behind of my every design.
Through art - it's my way of storytelling. To express my feelings and emotions. To share the millions of hobbies that I have (an exaggeration but life is so full of choices).
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I made my art.
María Clara
The name was inspired by the traditional Filipino dress that was popular in the 1800s due to its coincidental resemblance.
This artwork was made for my Scottish friend that I met in Jardin, Colombia in 2019 after a week of consecutive bad luck.
It was a thank you gift for her with handwritten note at the back for the special time we shared together at Creo Ecolodge.
She's one of my friends who told me to open an Etsy shop. Instead, here we are 3 years later launching with the first collection.
Our tote bags have a phrase inside that says "Never forget how powerful you are" in my own handwriting. A phrase that reminds me how powerful I am and I can be sharing my creativity to everyone.
Colibri
Colibri or hummingbird in English was another artwork to a friend I met in Jardin, Colombia.
The Colibri was drawn after seeing many hummingbirds up close for the first time in my life.
Colibri holds a special place in my heart. It reminds me to stay joyful, and to stay free.
Our tote bags have "Stay Free" in my own handwriting to remind me that I have all the freedom in the world to enjoy life.
Ebb & Flow
The artwork is originally illustrated for the unpublished children story written by my Soul Sister. It's a piece that is "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa" inspired.
It shows the storm in the ocean when everything is dark and chaotic. But just like the 'calm before the storm' there will be 'stillness after the storm'. The ocean will be once more filled with peace.
I eventually turned the sketch to an actual digital artwork when there was distortion and disruption within me and in my surroundings.
It was probably the lowest of the low of 2022 for me. But as an Ocean Child, I rode the waves until the storm passed.
Stay wild, keep being you and keep riding the waves, Ocean Child.
In the inside of our tote bags, we have a sunset design with "Stay Wild, Ocean Child".
